Today, constipation is a normal symptom where an individual has difficulty passing shit or unusually dry stool. In common language it is infrequent and irregular or difficult cleaning of the bowels. Constipation is laid down in the large intestine, which is responsible for packaging & removing shit. As consumed food moves via the large intestine, it absorbs water at the time of forming shit. Muscle contractions, the squeezing motions, in the large intestine push the faeces toward the rectum (the lower 8 to 10" of the colon). By the time shit reaches the rectum, it is solid, as most of the water has been soaked.
